The Courage of Life
My name is Kelsey Kribs and I believe in Courage.
Courage can be displayed in many different ways, from making a heroic gesture to knowing when to sit down close your mouth and listen to others. The definition of courage changes within each person because we all face different fears or battles that requires our strength. My personal definition to courage is pushing myself out of my comfort zone when in situations where I don’t normally feel comfortable.
When I was younger going through elementary school I was very shy and only spoke to the students that I felt most comfortable around. As I grew up a little and got to middle school with double the students, I realized that for me to fit in and get along with everybody I was in major need of a thing called courage to help me step out of my comfort zone and approach new friends. Courage helped me a lot with expanding my horizons and in becoming more comfortable, but it wasn’t until high school that I realized what courage is all about. Courage isn’t just stepping out of your comfort zone and making new friends, but it is a major part of getting ahead in life. The more outgoing, friendly and optimistic I had become through out my years of experimentation, I learned that courage is the key to success.
You can’t be successful in life if you are always being overshadowed with self doubt and always being confined in your little bubble of comfort. For example some people that have gone from nothing to becoming the most successful people in this world by just using a little courage and self expansion are Oprah Winfrey, and Ellen Degeneres. These two very powerful women came from such poor backgrounds but they did not let their hardships hinder their successes and outcomes of their lives. What got them to the point they are today you might ask? Well it was simply courage. Courage to prove people wrong, courage to stand up for what they believe in, and the courage to make a voice for people everywhere who are sick of hearing that you can’t create your own success. They are role models for children and adults around this world today. They had the ambition and the drive to strive for what they want to come out of their lives, and we can do the same, all done through courage.
